Bryan Thomas,Tenor is a promising young vocalist who will receive his Bachelor of Music in Opera degree in May of 2008, from Shenandoah Conservatory. Bryan is presently singing the principal role of Lysander in Benjamin Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream at Shenandoah Conservatory. This summer, he is scheduled to perform on two concerts in the opera house in Chemnitz, Germany. While in Germany he will also sing the role of Carl Olson in Kurt Weill's Street Scene at the Freiburg Opera. An accomplished pianist, Bryan will also be working with the artistic director of the Chemnitz Opera, Wieland Müller, to refine his interpretational skills of accompanying the German song. A native of Southern New Jersey, Bryan is currently in the studio of Donna Gullstrand. Bryan will begin study in the Master of Music in Conducting program at Shenandoah Conservatory in the fall of 2008, under the baton of Grammy award-winning conductor Robert Shafer.

 

Drew VanDyke Colby, Bass, is a student at Shendandoah Conservatory currently completing a Masters in Vocal Performance. He completed a Bachelor of Arts in Music at The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA, with concentrations in vocal performance, composition, and choral conduction. As a student at William and Mary he received high honors for his composition and paper An American Mass, a work based on his research of African-American Spirituals and the life, works, and philosophy of Robert Nathaniel Dett. He has been a featured soloist with the City Choir of Washington and is honored and thankful to be invited to sing with the Masterworks Chorus of the Shenandoah Valley, an ensemble joining in an historic and important part of American music culture.

 

Phyllis Wine, Soprano, was born and raised in Orlando, Florida where her performance career began at the age of 5 in her church's Christmas play. She has been performing pretty much ever since in a variety of venues. While at Bridgewater College, Phyllis sang with the Concert Choir and Chorale. After graduation, she was a full time performer at Walt Disney World for several years. She also did extensive work in musical theater with roles in The Sound Of Music, Guys and Dolls, Annie, and 1776. Phyllis' career took her to Dallas where she performed in a western theme park; toured with a national production of A Christmas Carol; did radio voice over work and was an extra on the TV show Dallas as well as several films. She has also performed with the Dallas Symphony Chorus and the Kingsport Symphony Chorus in Tennessee. Having moved to Harrisonburg in 2005, Phyllis  is honored to be performing with the Masterworks Chorus and looks forward to future performance ventures.
